Painting over wallpaper is a subject that is taboo amongst many in the professional painting industry, however if your wallpaper meets certain criteria you can paint over wallpaper with little or no problems. The first thing that you will need to do is determine if the wallpaper is in good enough condition to paint over. By this, I mean that you must check for any loose seams, rips or tears in your wallpaper. If you have any loose seams they must be glued prior to painting. If you have numerous rips or tears, then you will be well advised to go ahead and remove the wallpaper instead of trying to paint over it.
Another interesting use for wallpaper that I have already talked about is paper-mache. Just as with any other type of paper, wallpaper can be used in a paper-mache project. One might even say wallpaper is a natural fit for such an undertaking, as many use wallpaper glue to make the paste that is essential to the paper-mache process. Yet paper-mache is not the only art or craft leftover wallpaper can be used for. Many mothers and daughters have used old or leftover wallpaper scraps to decorate dollhouses. Why cant your dolls have the same kind of beautiful and decorative wallpaper that you have? Speaking of dollhouses, many children have used wallpaper to make paper dolls. Clearly, these arent dolls that can be used in a standard dollhouse, but they will entertain children nonetheless.
The size of the mural depends on what the theme mural is and how light or heavy the painting on the tiles are. Keeping in mind the whole concept for the mural is to be a focal point not an eyesore.
You can revamp a room wall without completely repositioning the furniture, or buying a range of new dcor, or severely shifting the rooms theme. If one is already satisfied with the way things are, a quick change in wallpaper will instantly liven up a room and change its whole feel and look. The most important factor here is choosing the right wallpaper and wall paper border to incorporate to the rest of the rooms overall theme and structure.
