As a professional contractor one of the questions that I am asked the most is "What is the best way to remove wallpaper?" This is a project that can be very daunting for many homeowners. In this article I will go over what I believe is the best and most efficient way to remove wallpaper.
If the wallpaper is indeed strippable, it should peel off quite neatly by only applying a moderate pressure. If it doesn't, the wallpaper is probably non-strippable in which case you will either need to use the soak, steam or dry strip methods.
Lift up an inconspicuous corner of the wallpaper with a utility knife and keeping as close to the wall as possible, pull the paper down the wall vertically. Make sure you pull straight down and not away from the wall as this will reduce the chance of the wallpaper tearing.
For Mac users, you can either save the image to a folder or add it to iPhoto library. For PC users, you can save the wallpaper into My Pictures folder. Then you can sync the iPhone or iPod touch with photos in iPhoto 08 on a Mac, or Photoshop Album 2.0 or later or Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later on a PC. You can also sync with any folder on your computer that contains images.
